08:38 pm - Kitty Pryde
I've been re-reading the Whedon run of Astonishing the last few days. The more I read it, the more I think that the way he handled Kitty was him writing his strongest female character. She is caring, mentally + emotionally strong without having to be a physical powerhouse (she can hold her own in a different way then most female heroes)and while having power is the character I can relate the most. My emotional investment in her continues each time I read and I can see why she was his inspiration. I've even found the way Peter is handling the aftermath of the story extremely touching and has made him more human then he has been in years.

02:27 pm - Hurray!
If all goes well I should be getting one of the bestest b-day presents from Pat. My only problem is choosing the color. I know I want blue for the jacket/skirt that shows as that peachy color, but am at a loss for the trim/underskirt. I could go with black and was even tempted to get the current color or brown.....I like it when choosing colors is the hardest part.

01:24 pm - Rain...
please stop because I would like to wear my new boots, but don't want them all wet. You caused me to not do laundry yesterday because there was too much of you to carry my clothes under and made the grocery bags all slick when I went food shopping. Perhaps a little break would be a good idea. Not a breakup mind you, just some time apart.

Just sitting at work (swamped due to phishing emails and final day for Phone/High Speed customers to pay their bills before suspension) waiting nervously for a call that the appraisal is good and the financing for the house goes through. I have Thur off for the closing and really need it to happen. *crosses fingers*

I was able to get the HW heater going with the push of a button and turning on of the circuit breaker (gee so hard). But the furnance cost me a pretty chunk as it was not working and had to have a special dispatch sent out to replace where the oil comes in due to sludge ruin. Apparently when draining the oil from an old underground tank to a new one there is a chance of this.... *sigh* but at least it is all fixed and running:)

Gogol was awesome and I really needed it. I started out in the "pit" and was a little concerned for a small child and her mother who were up there. There were also two older ladies chaperoning their teenage children and I don't think they realized what they were in for that night:) I need to stop wearing heels to dance in, but I love cute shoes. I had to limp out to my van at the end of the night to try and get out of there before traffic too because the steering fluid is low and makes turning a bitch. Success was had.

When did Hershey Bars start coming with instructions on how to open the package? There is "hold here" and "lift&pull here" on the package.

Looks like I am driving to Whitingham tommorrow morning. The Realtor I have I would never recommend. He told me to sell the house "as is" meaning I don't have to replace the window. But the people buying it are doing an FHA loan so now I may need to replace the window, but he isn't sure. He tells me this and is not sure three days before the appraiser is coming back, and 6 days before the closing would happen. I also have to get the hot water and heat going because he is on vacation again this weekend. The first week I had the house sold he was in Puerto Rico. He has not told me anything servicable and even though he knows I am a first time seller he expects me to know that things come up at the last minute and I need to take care of them. 6% for listing the house, drawing up some work and really annoying me. It would beone thing if he even had answers to my questions.

Come tomorrow I should know if the couple trying to buy my mother's home will have the financing and then close on the 11th. It means that I have less to worry about and more time to do things I want. I've not been in the best mental state as it has gotten closer and haven't wanted to do much until the house sold and I could finish closing the estate. I'm bringing all my documents down with me to the closing and my Lawyer will give to an accountant. This means I should be able to get the $ from the court to pay off all outstanding bills and move on. I really feel like I can't move on as well as I should until it is settled.

I did not hire anyone to mow the yard like the realtor suggested. I'd do that if it fell through, which I am going to keep believing will not happen. Today they dig up the underground oil tank and install the new one in the basement. It is costly, but I wanted to sell quick.

There is a strong feeling of sadness about having to sell the house. It is hard for me to digest that I'll never be there again.

11:07 am - random post
If nothing else regarding my trainer, at least I feel like things are firming up and I am stronger. I still don't have the stamina to run though:( and I was hoping to have lost more then 9 pounds of fat in 3 months. Three more to go. I wonder how much stronger I can get.

Mother's day is making me extremely blue. My mother's Aunt also died this week after living for years after a stroke that immobolized her. I have a picture of her, myself, my Great Grandmother, my grandmother and my mother on my desk at work and it is sad that all but myself have passed away. That is 3 generations that have passed on. It is another reason I am trying to be as healthy as possible.

I really want this dress in blue, but I can't ever see paying $1300 for a dress. I will be buying a Victorian dress in the next few months and in June will be placing an order from Scoundrelle's Keep so I can have a nice new outfit for Dragoncon.

03:42 pm - I hate figuring out money issues.
I hope I don't have the house in Whitingham listed for too much or too little. The Real Estate Agent thinks it should be listed for $28,000 less then it was appraised for in 2007 based on recent home sales in the area with an expectation that it would sell, if lucky, for $19,000 less then that. I told him I was hoping to list for $17,000 less then the appraisal from 2 years ago and he thinks we should list for $23,000 less to adjust for my figure and his.... If it was Chittenden county a 3 bedroom, 1 bath on 2 acres would be likely to sell much quicker and for $33,000 or more then what it may sell for there, but I have no idea how the market will change in the Mount Snow area as sales are currently down, but due to a good tourist ski season, maybe they will go up.

I know I will have to pay 6% for the broker and am unsure if my retainer will cover all the Legal fees remaining for the estate and the real estate. I have no idea if a buyer will want to have me cover closing costs, a new appraisal, a survey or title fees. In the meantime I'm paying the rent:( so I want to sell quick, but don't want to get shafted as the house is what will pay for the remainder of the home loan and other debt my mom left that I will need to cover as well as any money I've spent from Insurance with the hopes of having a good amount for down payment on my own home and paying off the last big piece of debt (other then my school loan which I keep for the tax break). I'd really prefer to be on the buying end of a home before the selling end.

08:53 am - I think keeping busy
is good for me.

The back of my legs are still burning from laying tile this weekend. (BTW I love the peel and stick tile. It is really easy to handle, and if you are good with staight lines, easy to cut.) I find that is the least worked part of my legs when I do squats because the front of my thighs take the most weight.

I found that I have lost 9 pounds of fat total, which is a 4% loss overall when looking at muscle gain. Since I started the medication I seem to be losing a lot more versus maintaining or small losses which has me really happy. I have 3 more months of training left and hope that this will mean a significant loss with this combination. I think doing nutrisystem during this time also will help. I've been able to modify it to the percentage needed in the program and I can also do days off without much problem.

01:31 pm - I'm really
going to miss being part of Dracula when it finishes. I've had soooo much fun with the production largely because everyone in the cast and crew are just awesome. I like being in a group of people....it makes my conversation skills less awkward (I am poor at the one on one for extended periods of time).

I've been looking over my to do list at the house for April...and it really isn't that much at all, not a project like last time. Pat, myself and his Stepfather can easily finish it. If not for the window I bet Pat and I could finish it. I think I care a little less about certain improvements now that the Realtor told me they think the house will sell for about $28,000 less then the appraisal from 2007. I am waiting to hear back about tree removal...but think if it is around $750 then it is worth it.

10:25 am
I was able to resolve part of the issue with the Mortgage co. Apparently a work order was submitted in January, before I was able to pay the mortgage for Dec and Jan. After I paid they stopped the order, but did not tell the Property management co who went out towards the end of Feb. I have a $75 cost for the winterization of the water lines (them putting in antifreeze). They have the legal right to do this per HUD and all came down to the fact that even thought I promised to pay, that I was not an authorized name on the account. I am hoping $147,000 for the house based on the last estimate of the property, but am willing to make concessions if it does not sell quickly. I hate paying the 7% interest on the loan.

They gave me the code to the key box so I can open the door and remove the padlock if I wish since I want to sell the place and that looks bad to buyers. They are also putting it so that any furhter work orders go through the manager I spoke to so he can say no. Somewhat of a double check.

Now I just need to go fix the place in April. Lots of painting, laying vinyl tiles, sanding & staining or painting the wood floor and replacing 2 windows (hopefully just the paynes, but one may need to be fully removed)are the big tasks. I also have some framing and may do some yard work too.

I am having a Tree removal co go out there and get me an estimate to remove several hanging branches and debris from the Ice Storm. I don't own a chainsaw so can't really do it myself. They said generally it costs at least $750.00 for 2 men out there for 2 hrs. I also have contacted a real estate agent and am waiting for their call.

The other things to deal with now are finding a buyer for the motorcycle and either fixing and selling the 97 taurus or trashing it based on what the lawyer says. I will also start paying some of the credit bills off with money left in her checking once I can get to the bank and then do her taxes hopefully on the 31st. I really hope my father listens to me and writes a Will after all this since he lives further away then my mother did.

10:43 pm - I like to think I am
a patient and reasonable individual.

I drove down Sat. to do some work on my Mom's house. First thing I saw was that the ice storm caused a branch to break the back window of the vehicle left there. When I last went down it was covered in snow so I did not see this. That means snow also melted. I'll have to call the insurance co tommorrow since no cell reception in the area. I'll need to let the lawyers know and perhaps remove the vehicle from her property list since it is also not starting. Car Boy there are a lot of trees needing to have their branches cut off.

I then went to the house and found that someone else had removed the window boards and put up their own. It allows more air in and out though. The locks had been removed and the door padlocked which would also make it easier to break in with just a crowbar. Lock Read more... ) Needless to say I am not in a happy place and have lost my patience. I feel bad for the Customer Service rep who gets me, but I know how one does need to act to get them to listen. I did the polite approach multiple times and it has gotten me nothing but more stress.

01:43 pm - Coming closer to completion
I received word from the Lawyers that I should receive paperwork giving me the Administratrix authority to take care of my Mother's estate. They also are sending information for a realtor. So I can finally put the house on the market. This also means I need to get some important cosmetic details fixed. I will measure the floor when I go down Sat for linoleum tiles (self sticking so very easy). Then I still need a new window, to paint a few walls, to finish putting up the Wayne's coating, re-hang the cellar door, sand the wood floor which still has paint and to get some wood to finish the window & door borders. It shouldn't be too bad to finish, but means I need to go down a weekend in April after the show. This means no Burlesque Expo:(. I don't think I can afford it with all the driving and initial repair costs, as well as I am going to be tired going into that time to begin with since I have to drive down to Whitingham this weekend, then back for Hell week and opening (all while working out still with only 1 day at the trainers). I like being busy, but also try to know my limits.

I am not really feeling like I am getting any thinner. I know I have to be gaining some muscle because the weight keeps increasing and I am very sore. I was dropped down to between 1300 and 1400 calories/day after 1 week of gaining a pound and then maintaining. The week I was closest to 1300 and working out 5 days a week I dropped 2 pounds, but then the next week only 1/2 a pound. I guess I will see what this week brings, but have a bad feeling I maintained since I was closer to 1350 on several days. I am really thinking about trying ZUMBA om Thurs still after the show completes to see if that rev's up my metabolism.

10:36 am - What a loverly day.
Yesterday was very low key. I really enjoyed the new "Friday the 13th". It was well done and held a great deal of the fun that was the original films as well as accurate homages.

Dinner at the Inn at Essex was, as always, marvelous. I had a Cauliflower Potage with truffle oil and Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras with a nutmeg fig compote for the first 2 courses. There was a Passion fruit Intermezzo before the main course. The main course was Petite reibeye, braised short rib, velvet potatoes, cipollini rings and wilted greens with red wine sauce. Desert was a Fondue for two with some yummy sides to dip including bruled banana's. It all made me very sleepy and now I want to make Bouillabaisse since that was the other main course I was tempted to order.

Today I need to hit the gym. But dinner was well worth it and the portions are not huge which is good, but they still stuff you by the end.

I tried not to be somber since I tend to miss my mom a lot more on certain Holidays, but that morning I was. We would always send each other a Valentine, so it was sad not to have that in the mail this year or to pick out one that told her how much I loved her as my mother.

09:51 am - I think it may be bad..
that the paralegal handling my probate case cannot do math. I received a letter about a filing fee she misquoted. It read that the new fee is $375.00 and to send $300 more dollars. I originally sent $150.00. I see a slight problem there. I'm glad she is not the lawyer.

I've been exhausted most of the week. I've not been sleeping well and am very tired from my workouts. The sad thing is I've seen 1 pound lost on the scale. It makes me nervous there is something off with me. Hopefully I've just been gaining a lot more muscle then I expected. My trainer has been checking my food logs and can't see anything wrong there. I've been getting my workouts in. If this does not improve in a week or 2 then we have to change what I am doing.

I am heading down to Whitingham to check on the house this Sunday and hope there is nothing wrong. Keeping my fingers crossed there is still enough oil to last another month.

Things I am looking forward to this week are Rehearsal & seeing the Tale of Two Sisters remake, The Uninvited.

09:24 pm - I really need to stop looking at clothes..
Because now I want to get this
I think in green although it also comes in red. There are three seperate pieces to buy, but I really like the look. I'll have to decide at some point if I want to order since I saw it while surfing the site where I plan to order this skirt to go with the corset I will get when I have lost some circumference from my midsection.

There are just too many fun things to wear!

02:59 pm - hrm..
I am thinking about ordering this or this, but am not sure which one. I found a cute skirt or two that would go with the first (including a shorter similiar style of the one in the pic) so it is more versatile, but still think the second is cute. I have time since I probably will not order until May. I have been wondering what I would look like in an underbust, but think it will be ok with the proper undergarments.

10:24 am - Balancing food
is much harder then I thought.

I am supposed to eat 1600 calories a day (more then I am used to) with 200 gram of carbohydrates, 100 grams of protein and 45 grams of fat. a 50% carb, 25% protein, 25% fat balance.

I started this yesterday and find I have to keep adding foods since I seem to not eat enough calories and protein otherwise.

Tonight is my first training session. I hope it goes well.
